Bodyguard (movie review)

Review Writer: Ajay Bharat
Rating: **

Director Siddique's hindi film Bodyguard is romantic action movie. It is the remake of his 2010 Malayam superhit movie bodyguard, and his 2011 Tamil blockbuster remake Kaavalam.
Film star's Salman Khan. Salman is much sensationalized figure in recent times in media. Due to his media sensationalized and festival release, movie is already declared super hit before its actual release. And with its super hit status it going to be top in chart-buster for several weeks. It is released in India on the occasion of Eid on 31st August 2011.
Siddique have written stories for some earlier good movies like 2000 movie Hera Pheri, 2004 movie Hulchul, 2006 movie Bhagam Bhag, and 2007 movie Dhol (most of these films was directed by Siddique himself in other languages). Lets see how he perform in this Hindi film which is already been declared super-hit before release.

Lovely Singh is recently appointed as bodyguard of Satraj Rana's daughter Divya Rana. Lovely's father was the bodyguard of Satraj and Satraj also once saved Lovely’s mother from a deadly attack. Lovely respects Satraj alot. Lovely is very devoted with his job.
Divya live separately from his family for her college study and Lovely follows Divya everywhere for her security reason. Divya who felt that her freedom is been taken away. So, Divya for diverting attention of Lovely starts to flirt with him on phone calls with portraying herself as Maya, and hiding real identity from him.
Lovely Singh falls in love with Maya, whose real identity he is still unaware. Later Divya also fall in love with Lovely. But she realizes that Lovely will not accept her, because he respects his father and very devoted with his job. So she decided to have break-up with him, still as the Maya.
Then, what happens tells the movie...
Will Lovely find that Divya is the Maya...? Will he still love her...? Will Divya's father will accept their love...

Looking at film it seems an unsuccessful attempt. It is felt that story does not engage, phone conversation of Lovely and Maya is dull and boring.
But at closer look everything is very good, film is simple and very good romantic movie, direction is very good. Comedy scenes are hilarious. When it is the movie of Siddique, from looking at his earlier written and directed movies, you can not feel comedy scenes boring. Then where film fails...
Movie fails in its fight sequences those are very unrealistic. And only appeals to front row viewers. Performance of lead actor Salman is the weakest point of movie; he seems to giving poses in Mr India contest, rather acting. When Lovely calls Satraj ‘Malik’, it look like he is joking, because way he portray the character it look like he don’t respect him. Comic scenes, romantic scenes are less engaging because of weak performance. All other characters have done decent and very good job. Kareena have done good job as disguised mysterious girl who fall in love with his bodyguard. Tsunami's performance is also very good, he is hilarious.

What good in movie is good direction, its simple romantic story and hilarious scenes by Rajat Rawail. What bad in movies is performance of lead actor, unbelievable and non-creative fight sequences.
It might be liked by fans of Salman khan and front-row viewers.
Do not expect good performance, intelligent entertainment from this movie and do not compare this movie with Siddique's other good movies; otherwise you will result into disappointed.
Reviewer Verdict: It is better to avoid movie by the Fans of intelligent and good entertainment movies. Salman's fans and front row viewers can still watch this movie for one time.
