Director Sudhir Mehta's The Green Chic is an animation and adventure movie about a chicken name Chiclet and his adventure in city.
A chicken Chiclet lives a very happy life in his jungle with his parents and family. One day his mother is killed by a hunter, and his dad is been captured. Hunter moves with his family to Mumbai city. Now, Chiclet have to save his father. So, he with his friend goes to Mumbai city. Here their adventures for finding dad begin with making some associations with an underground animals gangs working for animal rights.
Characters of movie are too sweet to be real. They do not look like real children. Film-makers seem to have prejudice that children are stupid. Children might be innocent, unknown to many facts and knowledge but they are no way stupid.
Animation is too mediocre, very behind to its Hollywood counterpart. Everything looks like forcibly filled in movie. Like one time they are living in very sweet life of jungle, other time they are in cruel city. One time they talking about religious points, other time they are showing underground gangs lives, one time they are searching and spying for finding Chiclet’s dad, other time they are posing as animal rights activists. Yet rarely any of them, look like serious attempt, not even fun and adventure.
Bravery of chiclet and his courage to go, find, and save his dad in a big unknown city, can be called good point of movie. While what bad is the animation is very mediocre. Story is too simple. Screenplay is very loud, scrambled. Direction is loose. Everything is messed up in movie.
It is a rare chance that it might be liked by children between 6 to 14 years.
Do not compare with other animation movies, otherwise it would be a big disappointment.
Reviewer Verdict: It is better to avoid this movie.
