Director Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 2' is a crime thriller movie. Don 2 is the sequel to 2006 Bollywood film 'Don' also directed by Farhan Akhtar. Farhan's Don was the remake of 1978 Bollywood film 'Don'. Farhan's Don was although commercially successful, but it was more attributed with the brand value of film, rather the film itself. Farhan's Don was not a very good film, and it is far behind than original 1978 ‘Don’ film. Both the Don and Don 2 of Farhan has actor Shahrukh Khan played the lead protagonist Don, who is negative character in film. Shahrukh Khan's acted recent film 'Ra. One' which was a financial successful, because of Shahrukh's old star power, but it unsuccessful in wining the heart of viewers except of his loyal fans. Farhan Akhtar’s all the earlier directed films of feature film length that is 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Lakshya', 'Don' was super hit, and these are also very good films except Don. Let’s see how Farhan Akhtar performs in this film as Director.

It has been 5 years since the story of last film. Don is now the king of Asian Drug Mafia, he is now planning to establish his drug business in Europe. European drug mafia is aware of this new threat to their business they plan to kill Don. Don escapes attack from European drug mafia. Don surrender himself in front of Roma and Malik in Malaysia, and tell them he is fed up of mafia, so he make a deal that he is ready to give details of his associates in return of immunity from police by clearing his past police records. Malik shows his incapability to doing so, and deal does not go further. Don is sentenced to death and sent to Malaysian prison. In prison, he met his rival Vardhaan of last film. He with Vardhaan breaks out from prison by poisoning other prisoners, and taking advantage of situation. After this, Don makes plan with the help of Vardhaan to rob the plates of Euro currency printing. Don also includes Jabbar and his goons in plan, who actually been sent to kill Don but instead Don successful get upper hand on them, and ask their help in return of not killing them. Sameer Ali is a computer hacker who is helping Don for this plan, by hacking the security system of bank. Vardhaan and Jabbar plans to kill Don, while escaping from bank, and keep the currency plates. While Don's plan is exciting, Roma, Malik, and police are chasing them.
Then what happens tell the movie...
Will Don succeed in his plan...? Will police and Roma succeed to stopping them...? Will Vardhaan and Jabbar kill or win against Don... What happen with the European drug mafia who wants to kill Don...?

Don 2 is a hard core crime movie. Crime remains the central theme as any other thing in film. This story-driven film is solely based on style, attitude of characters while following their part. Every character in film has his/her plan. Don has a plan, Vardhan has other plan, and Roma has another plan. Actual story of film is very good, but some sub-plots of script are quite stupid like sequence in which Don and Vardhan escape from prison look very amateur and stupid, it is also very over-used sequence in various films. First half of the film shows how they make plan, and in second half of film they execute that plan. First half is though good, but actual interesting and fast-paced story shown in second half. Performances of all characters are very good. Shahrukh Khan's as Don sometimes irritates by his over-confident performance at several times, and frequently goes out of character. Character of Don though required a very confident attitude, but Shahrukh played it over-confident in several places which looks less genuine and more forcible. But except those several places Shahrukh also has given very good performance, especially in second half of film. Robbery plan goes almost straight as planned but real interesting part of film starts while they need to escape from bank.

Good points of film are its excellent direction, good performances, and story is good, interesting, fast paced. While bad points of film are lead actor Shahrukh have done not genuine over-confident acting in very few places, otherwise rest of places he has given very good performance. Another bad point of film is some of sub-plots in film are very stupid and over used, though rest of story is very good.
Film will be liked by fan of good story crime film, and fan of stylish character films.
Do not compare this film with original 1978 Bollywood 'Don' movie otherwise you may be disappointed.
Reviewer Verdict: It is a must watch movie.

Dhobi Ghat (movie review)

Director Kiran Rao's 'Dhobi Ghat' is a drama movie. Kiran Rao is wife of Aamir Khan, a famous actor and director of Bollywood. This film is her directorial debut, while she has worked as assistant director in many other successful Bollywood films.

Arun who is successful and up-market artist comes to live in a flat in older part of Mumbai. He meets to Shai but their relationship does not go further because Arun does not believe in relationships and he loves to live alone. Shai is an NRI investment banker; she comes to Mumbai for her photography hobby. She met with Munna, a washerman (dhobi) for picturing him while working. Munna is inspired to become actor. Munna starts to like Shai. Arun found the video tapes of Yasmin, earlier inmate of flat. He gets inspirations and obsessions with videos while watching her videos.
What happen next tells the movie...
Will four of them with their own story and nature affect each other...? What happen of Munna and Shai...? What is in videos of Yasmin which effects life of Arun for forever...?

Film shows beautiful story of four main characters of different background and dreams. Each one of them has different experiences and different stories in their perspective which is very different from the other’s story in their perspective, and yet get effected from other stories. Meetings between all of them affect them forever. Arun is loaner by choice and found his new inspiration as videos of a newly married lady who loves to live in happy company. Shai is girl who wants to finish the unfinished story between her and Arun, and while doing so, she is taking photograph of Munna as a hobby. Munna is a waterman, and he have passion for acting and he is happy in the company of Shai. It is the story of Yasmin which affects the most; her story becomes very life full through her video tapes. She is newly married lady who is sending video messages to her brother; she is expressing her experiences in the Mumbai city. Director Kiran Rao once said that Mumbai city is the fifth most important character of film. Film shows the less explored lives and soles of Mumbai city, with its different colors.
Performances in film are very good, direction is also excellent. But this is not a usual masala Bollywood entertainer and it do not have big filmy turns, but each character get emotional shock of life by the turns in movie towards the end of it.

Good points of movie are its different story, with great performances, direction, and cinematography. While some bad points of film are it however give a strong impression to its viewer but it do not entertain like the usual Bollywood masala movies.
It would be liked by fan of excellently directed films and the intense emotional character-driven films.
Do not expect any heavy story with usual Bollywood masala entertainment in movie; just watch it for its good performances, direction, and life changing experiences of different characters.
Reviewer Verdict: Film is watchable film, while it is must watch film for its excellent direction for section of viewers professionally inspired or related to movies world.

Director Saurabh Shukla's ‘Pappu Can't Dance Saala’ is a romantic comedy and drama movie. Director Saurabh Shukla is a well known character artist plays comic roles.

Vidyadhar Acharya aka Pappu is moved from Varanasi/Banaras from a traditional orthodox middle class family to Mumbai for his new private job as a medical representative. Vidyadhar find difficulty in adjusting in city, He is not happy to living away from his hometown, and angry with everything. Mehak Malavde is also moved to Mumbai from small town of Kohlapur also from middle class family, she is a chorus dancer, and she believe in modern values. Both Vidyadhar and Mehak have to live in neighborhood rooms of a flat. They start to fight with each other, their beliefs and cultural values clashes. Chances made so that they both have to live in same room in flat.
Then what happens tell the movie...
Will their fights become even greater... or will their difference in cultural beliefs ever let them compromise with each other...

Film is an interesting story of cultural clashes between modern and traditional culture. How their journey goes to understand each other. How interesting are their fights. Film also shows the tough life of people come to big city for brighter future. First half shows the different attitude of character and which make them fighting always. Second half of film tries to explore different aspects of these different cultures.
Performance of Vinay Pathak, Neha Dhupia, and others are very good, even Naseeruddin Shah in very small role of less than 4 minutes is very effective. Direction is also very good. Story, script are also keep entertain the viewers.

Good points of film are interesting story and interesting clashes between modern and traditional culture, very good performances of actors, good direction. While bad point can be people might feel Vinay Pathak in repeating similar character with earlier films though character is somewhat different also. Film also lack a usually too filmy turns, fight sequences.
Film will be liked by fan of Vinay Pathak, good romantic comedy and good sarcasm on cultural clashes films.
Reviewer Verdict: Film is watchable film.

Jo Hum Chahein (movie review)

Director Pawan Gill's 'Jo Hum Chahein' is youth romantic drama movie. It is debut film of director and both the lead actors Sunny Gill and Simran Kaur Mundi.

Rohan Bhatia has ideologies clashes with his father Dalip Bhatia, his father wants him to give importance to family life first, while Rohan wants to get high position and money as soon as possible. After MBA graduations Rohan with his friend Abhay moved to Mumbai. In Mumbai, Rohan met with Neha Kapoor, and flirt with her to win a bet with Abhay, but eventually they start to love each other. Rohan and Abhay with 28 others joins Bombay Bulls, a stock trading company, but only 10 best will be selected finally after 3 months. Rohan performance charts does not go very high even after try hard, so he take help of best stock broker of company Vikram Khurana. Vikaram introduces Rohan to a socialite lady Amrita Singhania to help him. Rohan try to charm Amrita for investment through him, so that his performance chart in company rises. Professional relation of Rohan and Amrita starts to disturb the love life of Rohan and Neha.
Then what happens tell the story...
Will Rohan and Neha break up...? Will Rohan performance chart finally goes up and will be selected after 3 months... Will Rohan and his father's relation ever get better...?

It is a good youth film which tries to show the dreams of today’s youth that how they want to get rich sooner, and forget to enjoy and respecting family life. It also tries to show the importance of family life and friends. Some times film feels as following as over used story plot but with new energy and enthusiasm. Debutant director and actors have given good performances.

Good things about film are its enthusiastic youth theme, good direction and good performances of actors. While some bad points of film might be its same old and over used story.
Film will be liked by fans of serious and romantic youth films.
Do not expect any new things from story.
Reviewer Verdict: Film is one time watch, especially for youths.

Director Maneesh Sharma's ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ is a crime comedy movie. Maneesh's last film was 'Band Baaja Baaraat', which was his directorial debut. Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma are lead protagonists in both the film. 'Band Baaja Baaraat' was a big hit with lesser star value. Let’s see whether Maneesh able to repeat success of his last film.

Ricky Bahl is a young conman who con people specially by fooling girls. He con three girls Dimple Chaddha, Raina Parulekar, Saira Rashid and looted their money. Three of them meet and decide to con Ricky and get back their money. Three ladies take help of their friend Ishika Desai. Ishika meet Ricky and try to con him.
Then what happens tell the movie...
Will ladies' plan goes as it planned...? Will Ricky get success to con them again...?

Film's story and screenplay are its strength. Film keep itself interested and expectation till the last and it’s successful in it. Performances of all actors are very good, direction is also very good. Parineeti Chopra as Dimple is the surprise package in film, she makes her presence notable among all ladies, and she is very comic in her dialogue. Dipannita Sharma also done good job. Anushka Sharma's role is not much noticeable, she does not have much to do. However, Feministic may not like the ending of film.

Good points of film are its good story, screenplay, performances, and direction, while bad points of film are its melodramatic end.
Film may be liked by fan of gender fight story and witty crime story films.

I Am Singh (movie review)

Director Puneet Issar's I Am Singh is social drama movie. This film is based on post 9/11 on racial attacks.

Ranveer Singh is a young sikh settled in India, he come to US after hearing about attack to his US settled family. In US, Ranveer come to know his one brother has been killed, other has been taken in police custody for the charge of gang fights and murdering his own brother, and his father has been injured. Ranveer when meet local Asian community, he come to know that his family has been attacked by misguided racial attackers due to mistaken identity of turban Sikhs with Afghans. Few persons are mistook turban look of Sikh as afghan persons. Rizwan Hyder a Pakistani Muslim who is also been a victim of racial attack, is helping Ranveer. LAPD Police are not helping them and they are not taking actions against racial crimes. Fateh Singh is a Sikh police officer who has been expelled for his turban look; he is fighting with LAPD for his rights. Fateh Singh suggests them to fight legal way, instead of become non-violent. He also suggests them to speak for identity of Sikh and Sikh religion, so that people do not mistake about their identity.
Then, what happen tells the movie...
Will they get justice...? Will gang of racial attackers will ever punish...

Story of film had a lot of potential, but screenplay & script does not support it. Film looks like a documentary film on Sikhs. Film’s fist half look challenging and genuine, it also raise expectation from film that how they legally and within the system provide justice. But sadly second half becomes extremely melodramatic and preachy in nature. Film could have done much better. Performances are average, direction loose in second half to keep it entertaining or engaging. Film feels slow also.

Good points of film are its natural and genuine look and story, while bad points of film are it’s over melodramatic screenplay and preachy nature, average performances, direction.
Film might be liked by the community which is related with religion and this issue.
Reviewer Verdict: Film can be avoided if you are not in mood to see a melodramatic documentary on religion and racial attack issue.

Director Milan Luthria's 'The Dirty Picture' is a drama and biographical movie. Milan Luthria has also directed some successful and good films like 2006 Bollywood movie 'Taxi No. 9211' and 2010 Bollywood movie 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai'. Film is said to be based on the life of film actress Silk Smitha aka Vijayalakshmi.

Reshma aka Silk Smitha runs away from her home one day before her marriage to Chennai. She dreams to work in Chennai film industry and work with Suryakanth aka Surya which is her dream hero of industry. She tried her best for getting role for side dancer, but casting director rejected her for being unattractive. But she again with more confidence meets him and agreed to do dance in which she whips herself and did bold dance as a side dancer. Film’s director Abraham ridicule with her dance and he have confidence of his art in film making and cut her dance portion. When film fail to gain success, producer re-enter her dance portion, and after that film successful to get some money and attention. She starts to work in dance numbers, then she ultimately meet with her childhood ideal actor Surya, but shoot is quite unsuccessful because of arrogance of Surya. Then, Silk makes relationship with Surya, and with Surya help she gets in the role of SelvaGanesh production film, and despite the objection by director Abraham. Silk relationship with Surya, continued until one day she realize her low value in the eyes of Surya. Media is continually speaking against Silk. But silk come with more strong confidence. Film Industry is also gaining competitors for Silk, in dance numbers.
Then what happen tells the movie...
Will love come again in life of Silk...? Will competitors and media win against Silk's rebellion...?

Film is nice story of a rebellion strong girl, who wants to get her dream profession at any cost. For this she is ready to do anything, but within her own limitations, and for this she fights with everyone from media to director. Story though is good, but many times film is quite predictable due to other similar films have released. Film may entertain or interest certain class of viewers but it is difficult to entertain the wider section of viewers, for its simple and non-interesting story.

Good points of film is the performance of Vidya, good direction, and presentation of strong rebellion female character, while bad points of film are film is quite slow, predictable, and does not entertain wider section of viewers.
Film may be liked by fan of strong rebellion character's movie.
