Director Milan Luthria's 'The Dirty Picture' is a drama and biographical movie. Milan Luthria has also directed some successful and good films like 2006 Bollywood movie 'Taxi No. 9211' and 2010 Bollywood movie 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai'. Film is said to be based on the life of film actress Silk Smitha aka Vijayalakshmi.
Reshma aka Silk Smitha runs away from her home one day before her marriage to Chennai. She dreams to work in Chennai film industry and work with Suryakanth aka Surya which is her dream hero of industry. She tried her best for getting role for side dancer, but casting director rejected her for being unattractive. But she again with more confidence meets him and agreed to do dance in which she whips herself and did bold dance as a side dancer. Film’s director Abraham ridicule with her dance and he have confidence of his art in film making and cut her dance portion. When film fail to gain success, producer re-enter her dance portion, and after that film successful to get some money and attention. She starts to work in dance numbers, then she ultimately meet with her childhood ideal actor Surya, but shoot is quite unsuccessful because of arrogance of Surya. Then, Silk makes relationship with Surya, and with Surya help she gets in the role of SelvaGanesh production film, and despite the objection by director Abraham. Silk relationship with Surya, continued until one day she realize her low value in the eyes of Surya. Media is continually speaking against Silk. But silk come with more strong confidence. Film Industry is also gaining competitors for Silk, in dance numbers.
Then what happen tells the movie...
Will love come again in life of Silk...? Will competitors and media win against Silk's rebellion...?
Film is nice story of a rebellion strong girl, who wants to get her dream profession at any cost. For this she is ready to do anything, but within her own limitations, and for this she fights with everyone from media to director. Story though is good, but many times film is quite predictable due to other similar films have released. Film may entertain or interest certain class of viewers but it is difficult to entertain the wider section of viewers, for its simple and non-interesting story.
Good points of film is the performance of Vidya, good direction, and presentation of strong rebellion female character, while bad points of film are film is quite slow, predictable, and does not entertain wider section of viewers.
Film may be liked by fan of strong rebellion character's movie.
