Director Maqbool Khan's 'Lanka' is a crime drama movie.
Jaswant Sisodia aka Bhaisaab is a gangster in a small town of Bijnore with strong political background. Jashwant is dabang or dominating person of town and he has all laws and police in his control. He forcefully make Anju his mistress without her consent, he exploits her. Jashwant had make Anju's whole family guarded 24X7 watched by his goon and literally taken them at house arrest or captives. Rajbir has raised Jashwant after death of his parents. Rajbir and his son are only family known to Jashwant, and he took them as father and brother respectively. After a long time Rajbir's son back to the village, he is loyal with his brother Jashwant, and ask no question. But when he looks how Jashwant is exploiting the Anju, his faith with Jashwant start to shook.
Then what happens tell the movie...
Will Rajbir's son help Anju...? Will Jashwant's dabangayi on town will ever end...
Film successfully shows how in absence of strong infrastructure, legal and regulation enforcement, gangster rules on small towns. Film also successfully shows how Rajbir's son is in dilemma and his faith is shook between his brother and an innocent girl exploited by his brother. Performances are good, Direction is also good. But story is not very interesting.
Good points of movie are its good performances, direction, basic theme of movie, while bad points of movie is its small story which is not much interesting and do not keep you engaged.
Film will be liked by fan of films which shows reality in small rural areas.
Reviewer Verdict: Film can be avoided, if you are not much interested in central theme of film.
