Director Tigmanshu Dhulia of 2003 movie 'Haasil' and 2011 movie 'Shagird' fame is back with movie 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster'. It is a political and crime thriller and romantic movie. It is been said to be inspired or remake of Grur dutt's classic movie 'Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam'.
Sahib aka Nawab is the wealthy person of royal ancestry. He is married to Begum and has a mistress also. Sahib is ready to do anything for maintaining his royal life style from murdering to helping politicians to earn government tenders. Babloo is a small time gangster who is on mission of murdering Sahib given by Sahib's enemy.
Begum and Babloo get involved in romantic affair. Babloo wants to take place of Sahib, tells Begum that he is intended to marry her and ready to do anything for it.
Then what happens tells the movie...
Will Babloo succeed in murdering Sahib...? Will he marry with Begum...? Or story takes any other turn...
Film is nice political drama. Movie has good performances and direction. Film portrays affectively the Sahib’s character that with his frustration of his shrinking wealth is ready do anything. Begum’s character is also affectively portrayed who struggle with his unsatisfied life and a rebellion. Babloo’s character shows an opportunist who want to take opportunity from the conditions by any mean.
Good points of movie are its good performances, direction, and dialogues. While some bad points can be many people can not connect with a story goes around a royal family in democratic country and non-moralistic lives of royal family in this film. And concept of royal ancestry is out of date.
It would be liked by fan of serious movies and Guru dutt's movies, and movies based on story of politics and royal lives.
Do not expect moralistic and good characters in movie.
Reviewer Verdict: It is one time watch movie.
